The annual CP Holiday Train will once again travel through North Dakota this December, marking its 28th year of bringing festive cheer and collecting donations for communities in need. As Super Talk 1270 – Accurate News, Stimulating Talk – Bismarck News Radio reported, the train is scheduled to run on Friday, December 18, and Saturday, December 19. This year’s schedule comes later than last year’s November appearances.
The CP Holiday Train is known for its display of Christmas lights and free concert performances held at various stops. This year, North Dakota audiences can expect to see singer-songwriters Shawnee Kish and Jamie Fine perform. While concerts are free for all attendees, the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train asks that visitors bring an item for their local food bank.
Since 1999, the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train has successfully raised more than $21 million and collected 5 million pounds of food for food banks across North America. A core principle of the event is that all donations gathered at a Holiday Train stop remain within that specific community to support local needs. Several North Dakota food pantries have been identified as beneficiaries, including Carrington Daily Bread in Carrington, the Central Dakota Food Pantry in Harvey, the Minot Area Homeless Shelter Coalition in Minot, and the Kenmare Food Pantry in Kenmare.
The train will make six stops in North Dakota over the two-day period:
On Friday, December 18: The first stop is in Hankinson at 122 1st Street. The train is expected to arrive at 6:30 p.m., with performances scheduled from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Later that evening, the train will stop in Enderlin at the CP Depot, located at 101 Harvest Lane. Arrival is set for 9:00 p.m., followed by performances from 9:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.
On Saturday, December 19: The train will begin its day in Carrington, arriving at the Carrington Depot at 601 6th Avenue NE at 1:30 p.m. The concert will run from 1:45 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Next, it will proceed to Harvey, stopping at 600 Lincoln Avenue. The estimated arrival time is 3:45 p.m., with performances from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. In the evening, the train is scheduled to reach Minot at Main Street Crossing at 6:30 p.m. Performances there will take place from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. The final North Dakota stop will be in Kenmare, located at 1st Ave SW and Central Avenue on the east side of the tracks. The train is expected to arrive at 8:30 p.m., and performances will be held from 8:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
This annual event continues its tradition of combining festive entertainment with a vital charitable mission, benefiting communities throughout North America by gathering food and financial contributions for local food banks.
