Bismarck, ND – The Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library, in collaboration with Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health, is set to launch a new series of "Winter Walk & Talk" events designed for adults. City of Bismarck - News Flash reported that these free sessions will offer residents a structured opportunity for light physical activity and community discussion during the colder months, running from November 2026 through March 2027.

The "Winter Walk & Talk" program is scheduled to take place on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, commencing on November 3, 2026, and concluding on March 16, 2027. Each session will begin at 2:00 PM at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library, located on Library Plaza at 515 North Fifth Street. The initiative aims to combine mild exercise with social interaction, fostering a sense of community among participants.

During each session, attendees will walk laps around the library building for approximately 20 minutes. This walking period is intended to be a time for participants to engage in conversations about various media, including books they are reading, shows they are watching, and podcasts or music they are listening to. Following the walking portion, the group will move to the library's Missouri River Room to warm up with tea, continuing their discussions in a relaxed setting.

Participants are advised to wear appropriate footwear for walking. The library's announcement also noted that cleats may be desired, suggesting preparation for various indoor walking conditions. A significant detail for participants to note is the program's cancellation policy. If the temperature, including wind chill, drops below zero, the "Winter Walk & Talk" session scheduled for that day will be canceled to ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees.

The program is free of charge and open to all adults in the community. It represents an effort by the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library and Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health to provide accessible, engaging activities that support both physical and mental well-being during the winter season in Bismarck and Morton counties. Details about the program were provided by Katie Dinneen-Wirtz, Adult Services Associate at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library. Kevin R. Tengesdal, Public Information Specialist for the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library, also distributed information regarding the event series.
